1 terabyte in one optical disk
The CD is such a great form factor that we’ve really kept the size and increased the capacity instead. A lowly CD can hold “just” 600MB but the latest media can store a whopping 50GB. So what’s next after Blu-Ray and HD-DVD?
ArsTechnica reports about a new optical disk format that can handle between 1TB (that’s 1,000 GB) to 5TB in one disk. I imagine that will still not be enough to hold your porn collection
A company called Mempile in Jerusalem claims that their “CD” discs have a life span of 50 years, and the drives themselves could be on the market in two to three years.
