NBC shacks up with Amazon to offer TV shows
Well, that didn’t take long. Here’s the story so far :
- Apple and NBC disagree over DRM and wholesale pricing
- NBC says bye-bye to Apple, no more TV shows for iTunes Store at end of the year
- Apple says bye-bye to NBC, no more NBC shows for the next season
Now NBC has linked up with Amazon to offer their TV series through Amazon’s Unbox service. There will be more flexible pricing packages, for example Amazon Unbox will offer complete seasons of shows for up to 30 percent off the cost of buying the season show-by-show, if you bought in advance.
Unbox DRM is more restrictive than Apple’s, limiting you to only 2 computers. Oh, and it doesn’t work with Macs. Take that, Apple!
