Apple to reduce price of DRM-free music
Apple iTunes was one of the first major online music stores to offer DRM-free music. They initially set the price for their 256kbps AAC, DRM-free tracks at $1.29, 30 cents higher than DRM tracks. With Amazon having great success with their 99 cents, DRM-free MP3s, Apple has had some pressure to reduce their prices.
Now Steve Jobs has confirmed that they will indeed drop prices at the iTunes Store. Most of the DRM-free tracks are now already available for 99 cents each. Upgrades (from DRM to DRM-free) will still cost 30 cents.
