Hardware preview : duplex document scanner
Remember the day when “going paperless” was in vogue? All the large technology companies promised a rosy future where you no longer drowned in paper, thanks to computers. Yet when I look around me, I see more paper than ever.
In my office, we do have an official “paperless” policy, but of course paper is kept as a backup. Once every few months we gather up all our paperwork and send it all for scanning. Then a few weeks later, we would get CDs with images of the documents, with the original documents stored safely elsewhere, most probably in an offsite storage facility.
If you want to have the same system for your home or small business, it’s good to invest in a scanner. You may wish to consider the ScanShell 3000DN duplex document scanner . This scanner is fast (6 pages per minute for black and white documents) and it can scans both sides of the scanned document simultaneously. This will definitely save you some time.
The ScanShell 3000DN is flexible enough to accept input of varying sizes (up to US legal size). For example, it can easily scan business cards, plastic ID cards and forms. Scanned documents are saved in a standard PDF (Portable Document Format) so you can open them on any computer.
Weighing only 1.3 pounds (less than 600 grams), the ScanShell 3000DN sports a USB 2.0 standard interface which also acts as a power supply.
