Remember Napster? It was a notorious file sharing network back in the day. You could find any song shared on millions of hard drives. Those days are long gone, and Napster today has nothing to do with the old Napster other than the name and the logo.

Napster has been struggling to make money as a legitimate online music distributor. Now a stroke of good luck comes as AT&T has signed up to offer Napster Mobile to its 63 million customers. AT&T customers will be able to browse and preview 5 million songs in Napster’s catalog. The service won’t be free : you have to pay $2 per track or $7.50 for every 5 tracks. Now that’s not cheap. For $2 you get a music single AND a ringtone at the Apple iTunes Store.
