Where to stay in Blackpool?

A friend of mine recommends saving money on transport by traveling to destinations which are close by, and splurging on the accommodation instead. So whenever I go on holiday, I never skimp on the accommodation. If you’re heading for Blackpool for the holidays, where would you stay?

Aside from the obvious attraction of the theme park next door, Big Blue offers a gym, a bar and a restaurant (with 24 hour room service).
