Things are getting mighty interesting in the social networking space. Just a week after FaceBook and Microsoft teamed up, everybody else seems to be springing into action. Yesterday, Google launched their OpenSocial initiative. OpenSocial is basically an application framework for social networking, just like what Facebook has. The difference? OpenSocial is open for everyone.

Google has quickly garnered support from a number of different competitors, and it looks like everyone who isn’t Facebook and Microsoft are playing together. Who is now in Google’s camp? Aside from Google’s own Orkut, we have Six Apart, Salesforce, LinkedIn, Ning, Hi5, Plaxo, Friendster, Viadeo, Oracle and even MySpace.

Your move, Facebook. I bet Microsoft is a little bit worried about their investment now.
