Smallville S08E17 Review and Download : Hex

Synopsis:
S08E17 Hex
Chloe discovers how the other half lives when she wishes out loud for a peaceful life like her cousin Lois… and a sorceress places her consciousness in Lois’ body. Meanwhile, Clark receives a wish of his own.

Review:
This was a fun episode. It was very funny at times. And the funny thing about this silly episode is they kind of snuck some pivotal things in there.

And for the record Clark did fly. He might not have done it full blown. But, I guess you could say baby steps so to speak. He just needs to work on his horizontal and parallel parking flight abilities. At first I didn’t like that Zatanna was sort of being used as a sort of genie character who wasn’t quite the real Zatanna character. I thought they were lessening her actual abilities but later on she showed them so no real problems there. The writers just did it for dramatic effect. That’s a relief.

In the beginning of the episode Chloe kind of lays out how her character has almost been downsized and needs to be eliminated without any real purpose. Kind of like the exit interview for her character if the rumors are true. And than by the end of the episode she really became pivotal as they stole a page from the Birds of Prey so to speak. JLA! JLA! JLA!

I actually thought Erica Durance did a very poor job portraying Chloe in the early going, but as the episode went along she did better, but still it felt more like Clark was talking to Lois than to Chloe for at least half the episode before she started emoting better.

Clark was very funny as that unique alternate version of himself.

I think this was a very well paced and well done episode but there was one thing that kind of weighted it down. They are pretending Lois actually has gotten to this crack reporter thing when they really haven’t written her there yet. They are pretending there is this deep relationship with Clark and Lois and they haven’t really written them there either. Now, the episode was well done. But had other episodes better paced themselves into this one this episode that really should be a 10 would be a 10.
