One of the best movies that I’ve watched this year is The Boat That Rocked (renamed in the US as Pirate Radio). The movie is about the pirate radio revolution in 1960’s UK. I find it funny that the modern radio / music industry, with its heavy handed treatment of copyright and piracy, was itself founded on piracy.

Amazon.com has relaunched their video service. Formerly known as Unbox, the new Amazon Video On Demand offers both downloads and streaming to Macs and PCs. It also supports Tivos, Sony BRAVIA devices and televisions.

Not content with dominating the world’s music business, Apple wants to do the same thing to the movie business, too. Apple is now starting “day and date” releases of new movies, i.e., the digital versions are made available on the same day as the DVD release. Apple has secured deals with most major studios including Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
