Season 8, Episode 8 : Bloodline

No, he’s still not Superman yet.

Clark Kent receives a package from an anonymous benefactor, which contains the blue Kryptonian crystal. When he touches it, he and a visiting Lois are transported into the Phantom Zone, where they meet the captive Kara. She manages to open a portal but Zod’s imprisoned wife Flora takes over Lois’ body, returns to Earth, and goes on a rampage with her superpowers.

Review:
Kara (aka Supergirl) is back, fulfilling Laura Vandervoort’s one-episode obligation for this season. She looked like she stepped right out of one of the Mad Max movies. The only question I had is how they would quickly dispose of the character after reintroducing her and I admit that they threw me on that one. I figured she’d die in the Phantom Zone, but it would somewhat diminish the spin-off possibilities if they did that. The current tactic of sending her on an indefinite mission so they could bring her back if they wanted works much better.

A serial killer is on the loose in Metropolis, but Clark and Chloe find themselves on opposing sides when Clark believes that Davis Bloome is responsible, while Chloe defends her new friend.

Review :
(S08E06) So we the audience get to learn a little more about Davis “Doomsday” Bloome. To begin, to no surprise to anyone, he’s a killer.

It seems that this version of Doomsday (as opposed to the comics version) is more of a Jekyll and Hyde or the Hulk sort of scenario, where a man becomes an unstoppable monster. Frankly, it’s been done and I’m hoping the end of the season leads to a better revelation than learning that Mr. Bloome is a monster, which we know already.

Chloe and Jimmy are among several couples kidnapped by a man who subjects his victims to a lie detector test to measure their feelings for each other, Clark and Lois pretend to be involved to lure out the kidnapper and find their friends.

Review :
This was a decent episode. Hopefully Smallville is turning the corner, but I would still like to see more action.

When Oliver (Green Arrow) is poisoned, he starts having flashbacks to the period when he gained his archery skills… and met Tess. Meanwhile, Chloe has to make a decision which surprises Clark.

Review :
Worth watching just for Clark’s reaction to Lois taking his coffee. Real Clark Kent moment. Priceless.
